Summer Fun :)

Here are a few updates on the fun things that have been going on this summer!

Trent and I decided to do a late date night at the drive in movie theater. We were hoping Tanner would fall asleep on the way there. We made the mistake of telling him that we were going to see a movie. He stayed awake during the drive and kept saying "watch movie." This was the look on his face. Needless to say he did not fall asleep as soon as we had hoped. He enjoyed most of the first move and then fell asleep by the second one, so I guess we had more of a "family night/date night" but it was still really fun!

I made my first Turkey EVER! Yeah, those are burnt onions on top. Truthfully I overcooked the Turkey. I guess that is what I get for always worrying if the meat is cooked enough. Maybe next time I will do better....lol.

Tanner is such a smarty! Occasionally we will sing the ABC song together. The other day I finally pulled out some magnetic letters from the preschool box I had made at collage. Tanner was playing with them letters by himself and I heard him start to sing the ABC's song. He got all the way up to letter "G" on his own.

Tanner is always surprising me! I made us some bread with butter to eat. I had given myself the full piece, since Tanner had eaten something for breakfast and I hadn't. I gave him half of a heal to eat so that he wasn't asking for my piece of bread while I ate. I sat down to work at the computer and had laid my full piece of bread on the desk next to me. When I went to reach for it a little bit later I found this in its place. Tanner had traded piece with mine. Here is his chewed up half of a heal piece! It was so funny to me that he had traded without me noticing and that he knew what the good stuff was. He had helped himself to my piece of bead...such a silly boy.

Trent's sister Joy and her daughter Maddie came to Logan to visit. Trent and I enjoyed a BBQ with family, Sunday to celebrate our niece Katie's birthday. The following Monday Trent headed to work while I stayed to play with the girls. It was great to visit! Tanner loved playing with the pool. He had gone swimming in his swimsuit earlier, but started to play with the water again when he woke up from his nap. I decided not to care. I was being lazy and didn't want to change him so I let him play in his clothes. He had a blast with that hose and he was soaked by the end of everything!

Free Slurpee's! We have an app on our phone from Seven Eleven with free coupons on it and Tanner and I were able to get a free Slurpee. He enjoyed it :) When it was time time to get in the car he didn't want me to take the Slurpee. He started to throw a tantrum. I explained that if he cried he wouldn't get anymore Slurpee, but if he could wait patiently till we got home he could have more. He stopped. It was neat to see him understand and choose to act appropriately. On the drive home I kept telling him he was doing a good job waiting and that as soon as we got home he could have more. He did great all the way home and then was able to have some more, which made him really happy.

Tanner wanted to wear my socks. These ankle socks look like soccer cleats on him.

Tanner's favorite thing to do is stomp and jump on this brush stuff. We walk through this area on our way to church and every time he tries to stop and play. We have to remind him that he can stop and play on his way back. He usually listens and heads to church, but boy does he get excited on the way back home when we let him stop and play. He looks so handsome with his Sunday clothes on!

We dressed up like cows!

We decided to go with our friends to Chick-fila dressed up as cows. If you go dressed up as a cow on 7/11 you can enjoy a free meal! So awesome! They let you pick anything you want of the menu, and it's a whole meal..not just a sandwich. We had a lot of fun, and I think Tanner makes a really cute cow. Don't you?! Oh, and Tanner gave the cow knuckles. It was adorable!

My friend was the one who told us about it. I wouldn't have gone without her. I don't think I would have spend the time to make everything or had the courage to go without a friend. It was great! I'm so glad we decided to go.

Tanner fell asleep on the ride there. He was pretty tired and the car ride pushed him over the edge to an early nap. He woke up for lunch though, and overall was a pretty happy guy there.

Tanner and I also enjoyed a play date with a friend at the library a few days ago. Such a fun place to play, they have an ice castle and also a loft. Her is Tanner enjoying the ice castle.

Fondue Date

I decided to surprise Trent with a fondue date this week. We purchased a fondue pot over a month ago at a yard sale, practically new, for only $5. I made three dips and went way overboard on prepping food ;) Next time I think I will simplify. It was a lot of fun though.

We enjoyed the night and then spend the next day at Trent's work party at Lagoon. So much fun! They give us really discounted tickets along with some free food. It was a blast! Trina was kind enough to watch Tanner the whole day for us so we could go on all of the fun rides. To top it off Trent even won a prize, a movie theater popcorn machine!

Parkinson Reunion! 4th of July Fun!

Trent was able to get three days off together, so that we could enjoy the Parkinson Reunion and celebrate the 4th of July! What a blessing :) It was awesome! We spend two nights camping. Mom and Dad Parkinson joined us along with Trina's family.

On the 4th of July we did the regular stuff. First the parade. I'm glad Trent agreed to come because he hates parades! It was a nice sacrifice of him to make so Tanner and I could enjoy ourselves. Tanner loved picking up the candy they were throwing out to everyone. Then we went to the park for a hangout and picnic lunch. After that it was a movie. Thank heaven's Tanner fell asleep in the theater, he needed a nap and I didn't feel like driving back to our campsite in oak city. After that it was the Derby. It was so nice to spend time with all of the Parkinson's. It was especially nice to see the Jepson Family. Thanks for coming all the way from Texas! We loved seeing you guys.

During this time of year I think it is fitting to remember our many blessings. I give thanks to our founding fathers. Thank you for building this great nation under inspiration and direction from God. I'm so grateful to live in a land where I am allowed to exercise my religious beliefs. I'm also grateful for the men and women who have served to protect our country. Thank you for protecting the freedoms we all get to enjoy! God bless the USA!

Can't you see the excitement on Trent's face? I love how these pictures captured his excitement (or should I say unexcitement) for the parade.

Dad traded hats with Tanner. Love my boys!

Grandpa got a snow cone, I imagine to enjoy by himself. He was bombarded by these three...lol. I'm not sure he got as many turns as they did. It was really cute to see them flocking around grandpa for the "nummy snow cone" as Tanner puts it.

Grandma and Grandpa were sweet enough to get Tanner a wrist band so he could play on the bounce toys. He loved the bounce house, the slide, and this soccer one.

He shoots...

he scores!

We enjoyed some McDonalds for lunch. There were hardly any kids in the play place and the sign said parents could play too, so I did. I figured only in Delta would the play place be calm enough for me to feel like climbing through tiny tubes. It was really fun to spend time with Tanner playing in there.

I love his smashed face in this one. What a cutie!

Tanner really wanted to get wet when we went back to the park after the movie. People were playing games but Tanner kept pointing over to the splash pad saying "swimming." I figured we could go over there and play for a bit. He loved it! This boy can't get enough time in water lately.

Delta Derby

Tanner thought it was the coolest thing to bounce on the air mattress. He enjoyed playing inside the tent too.

So messy! Boy, do little kids get dirty camping! :0
Notice his face.

Tanner discovered bugs. He would sometimes just get down real close to look at them. He kept pointing saying, "bug." It got better too. By day two of camping he started to pick them up. Hahaha, silly, silly boy. This last picture is him holding a poor bug he killed when he was picking it up to show us.
