Trent's 30th Birthday!

Man! Trent is getting old ;) He's now the big 3! 0! Hahaha! I wanted to do some sort of big surprise birthday party, but I figured he wouldn't really appreciate that. He would enjoy an evening together with our small family more then a big event with a ton of people. So...we made it a fun day!

We started out with a yummy breakfast. I made him a homemade Apple Pie shake in our blender, some eggs, and I did a secret early morning run to get doughnuts (his favorite). Here's Tanner enjoying the yummy food!

Then while Trent was at work I hid 30 pieces of paper around the house. They each had one "I love you because..." written on them.

We enjoyed a fun night out to eat together as a couple. Of course Trent would pick the all you can eat shrimp at Red Lobster, one of his favorites. I enjoyed some chicken :)

I snuck off to ask them to bring Trent some ice-cream for his birthday. They are one of the few places that do it for free still. Nice of them to do that ;) I liked the candle in the ice-cream...good touch.

Then he opened his present. He's been wanting a dog for a long time, so I thought I would just give him one now. It's a debate we have and I'm not sold on the idea of a dog yet. Both Trent and Tanner want one. We can't have pets here, so we don't really have to address the issue at present...lol. It was a fun craft and Tanner really wanted to make it. We waited till the next day to make it. That next morning Tanner brought it to me again and tried to open dad's present. I told him we had to wait for dad and he cried about it. We finally made it that night.

Tanner enjoyed playing with dad's present bag a bit.

In the morning with the present he was hoping to make.

The next night we went to the nicklecade. We had to split it up because Trent's rotation didn't give us enough time to do two things in one night. Thanks Mom and Dad Parkinson for watching Tanner for us. Trent's choice of course, it was fun.

This horse race was a hoot. We were both sore and tired by the end of the race. Trent wanted to race again. I opted to watch....lol.

I even played "Jurassic Park". We had a good time shooting the dinosaurs.

Then with our tickets we got Tanner a hammer. He found it hilarious to hit us. Dad of course would have taught him how to do that.

Behold the power of the giraffe Hammer!

Farm Day's

I happened to be down at Trina's watching her kids for a little bit on the day the older kids school had their "Farm Day's." When she was home we decided to go to this free event they had going on. It was great. Lots of samples of healthy fruits and veggies, some crafts, and even a cow!

This is Tanner's traumatized face. He didn't like the cow and even cried at one point to not see him...lol. His cousins didn't mind though. They were all happy to give hugs to the cow.

Daily Life

Tanner is getting really good at making LONG trains! He loves trains and plays with them often.

My parents gave us their old Vita-Mix. Thank you for getting a new Blendtec blender so we could have your old Vita-Mix! We love it! We use it, if not twice a day, at least once. Its so fun to make yummy food in. We made some homemade peach syrup with some whole wheat waffles. So good!

McDonalds and Swimming

I feel like there is always so much to get done as a homemaker/wife/mom. Between Resident Council duties, cleaning, cooking, service to ward members and church callings...sometimes it feels like there isn't enough time to just be with, and teach Tanner.

I love the time I get to just be mom and BE THERE for Tanner. I love taking him places and letting him experience things. To see him light up about some new and exciting thing that we get to go do brings so much joy to my heart. It honestly feels like a breath of fresh air as we change from our daily routine and chores.

I had planned a play date with Trina and her boys at the pool. That morning Trina informed me that McDonald's had a free breakfast for kids from 6am-9am. Since we were going to go to the pool at 9:30am I figured we would really make a day out of it and hit McDonald's for breakfast beforehand.

It was great! Tanner was in love with his breakfast and pretty much ate everything. He was all smiles. Then we hit the pool and met up with his cousins, which he thought was the coolest thing ever. When we got to the pool tanner started clapping his hands saying "YAY!" It totally melted my heart to see him so happy. We really had a great time. When we were done swimming we hit the park near the pool and then had lunch at our apartment with Trina and the boys. Thanks for the fun times Trina!

I should mention that as I was putting Tanner into his car seat I told him we were going to go home for lunch. He told me that he wanted McDonalds. Totally on his own...hahaha.

I guess after eating there for breakfast he thinks we can go there whenever he wants. We didn't, and had mac and cheese at home instead, but it was really cute to hear him come up with his own idea of what we should do for lunch. Then as we drove away he exclaimed, "Pool fun!" It made me so happy to see him enjoying himself. Sure do love him!

Diaper off!

When I went into Tanner's room to get him out of the crib the other day he was naked! He had taken off his pajamas and diaper too. I fear the time to potty train is fast approaching and I dread it....lol. I love his happy face. He is always so proud of himself when he takes off his diaper.

Door Down!

Our Door broke :0 The back panel caught on our bathroom rug and when Trent tugged on it, it broke the door. He had to take it down to fix it. The hinges had been painted over with about 10 layers of paint from over the years in these old apartments. It was quite the fix it project! Then it took up our whole kitchen space for 24 hours till it was dried. Hahaha! The joys of small apartments. I know I'm going to look back at these years and remember the fun times we had during pharmacy school. Life is good...what else is there to say.
